Turn-Back-The-Clock Game With Former Big Leaguers To Be Played On Saturday
 “Legends of Baseball Vintage Showdown” will be held on Saturday October 17th at San Jose Municipal Stadium Photo courtesy of CVBBF | SAN JOSE, CA– San Jose Municipal Stadium will host the inaugural Legends of Baseball Vintage Showdown on Saturday, October 17th. Hall of Famers from the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association have teamed up with the California Vintage Base Ball Federation to participate in an exciting, first of its kind event. Former big leaguers from the MLBPAA will hit the diamond to play against local Bay Area ballplayers from the CVBBF in a turn-back-the-clock game to 1886. The contest will feature all of the rules, traditions and equipment of the game as it was first played over a century ago. Tentative participants include Hall of Fame pitchers Rollie Fingers and Gaylord Perry. Other Major League Baseball alumni tentatively scheduled to participate include Brady Anderson, Vida Blue, Bert Campaneris, Vince Coleman, Darrell Evans, Steve Finley, Ken Griffey, Sr., Jeff Kent, Kevin Maas, Blue Moon Odom, Ron Robinson, Reggie Sanders and Lee Smith. The day begins with the Legends for Youth Little League Clinic at 9:30 AM. Municipal Stadium gates will open at 12:30 PM giving fans the opportunity to watch batting practice before the Legends of Baseball Showdown game at 3:00 PM. In-game activities for fans include a silent auction and raffle of memorabilia, players on the microphone, a vintage costume contest, a history of the game trivia and much more. Tickets start at $20 for general admission and can be purchased online at www.cvbbf.com. All the proceeds of the event will be split between the MLBPAA Legends for Youth charity, Willie McCovey’s Junior Giants and the CVBBF’s efforts for youth health and wellness.
